Bridges are among the harshest places for street lights. They face wind, vibration and humidity from the river. Our road luminaires light both Liancheng Bridge and Liancheng Avenue, including the section in Jiuhua.
Design notes: lighting a bridge
General design guidance for this type of site, not the specification of this project.
- Wind and vibration. Bridges carry higher wind loads and constant vibration from traffic. Poles, brackets and luminaires need secure fixings, locking hardware and fittings tested for vibration.
- Humidity and corrosion. River air means IP66 luminaires, sealed cable entries, stainless fasteners and a good coating on the poles.
- Light where it is needed. The carriageway needs road lighting to the same class as the approach roads, while decorative or architectural lighting of the structure is usually a separate system.
- Maintenance access. Poles on a bridge deck are often reachable only with lane closures, so long-life drivers and surge protection reduce costly visits.
See the LED street lights we supply, and check spacing for a deck or approach road with the pole height and spacing calculator.
